A Bride’s wedding day is one of the most important days of her life and I’m sure that all brides dream of the fairytale wedding with lots of amazing wedding decor, special effects and great lighting that all help to create an amazing atmosphere for the dream wedding.
Choosing the right decor and entertainment really matters. It’s one of the most important days in a bride’s life and one you can’t wind the clock back and do again so it’s important to get it right first time.
Platinum Discos provides a multitude of items for the dream wedding including small and large bridal postboxes like this:
These post boxes are a very popular item of wedding decor and we have a floorstanding one too. They are lockable and we retain the keys until the end of the night and then give the bride and groom access to take out the cards etc.
Platinum Discos also provides white backdrops to go behind your top table to give you a nice backdrop for your wedding photos. They are available in lots of different sizes and we have enough to drape a fairly large function room.
Platinum Discos can also provide this amazing Ferrero Rocher heart which takes 150 Ferrero Rocher chocolates per side so you can have 150 or 300 chocolates on it. We have a brown and a white one. A table plan can also be hung from the middle of the heart which looks amazing.
Platinum Discos can also provide a huge range of giant letters in 4ft and 5ft heights and we have a mixture of the new led type ones that are not dazzling to our huge 5ft love letters that have the brighter bulbs in them. We can also do your initials if required too.
My new 7ft tall heart shaped arch is a really impressive piece of room decor. If you want something really spectacular in the room decor department then this is it. If you put your wedding cake underneath it and have your photos taken with it as your background it looks spectacular. All your guests will want their photos taken here too.
The above photo was taken at The Go Glasgow Urban Hotel on Paisley Road Glasgow.
Mood lighting was one of the first things I decided to add as an optional extra and originally I used the cable type ones which needed to be plugged in. These are quite cheap to buy and after I saw the new wireless ones I had to get a set. Now there’s no more looking for sockets to plug into, no more cables to tape down and they are dimmable, can change colour and do patterns all from my mobile phone! The only downside is that they cost just under £5,000 for 12. They are extremely quick to set up and I now have two sets with a third on the way as they are so popular.
I like them because they are very quick to set up and can be used easily in venues with very few plugs and can be placed anywhere.
Heres a video that shows what they can do shot at The Huntingtower Hotel in Perth.
Platinum Discos can also provide white LED dance floors up to 20ft by 20ft. These are probably the most popular item of wedding decor that we do and they provide a real centrepiece for your event. Quite often the wedding cake will be put in the middle of the floor for the cake cutting and this really gives your wedding photographer a perfect photo opportunity.
Platinum Discos can also project your names onto the floor, wall or ceiling using either a laser or a gobo projector. I think this effect is really amazing and it’s one I love to use.
Our wedding disco is also part of the wedding decor and our disco can have a multitude of looks. Lighting from the disco can transform your venue too. One of my favourite effects is to use starballs on white only to create lots of little snow flakes all around the room.
Here’s a video that shows you what I mean:
Platinum Discos also have an all white wedding disco planned and it will be launched on the 4th of August 2018 at a wedding in Glasgow. It will feature 4 white podiums with 4 white starballs, 4 white moving heads and a white velvet drape at the front and a white cable cover on the overhead gantry. All the podiums will be uplit and as will the drape behind the disco.
A brand new white EV Evolve 50 sound system will be added to this package for the ultimate all white effect and a great sound.
The all white disco will also feature a 50-55 inch led TV on the front of the disco which can show your wedding videos etc.
Another item of room decor that’s particularly spectacular is dry ice or as it’s sonetimes called “dancing on the clouds”. This effect is only for the first dance or first 5 minutes or so as dry ice is expensive and doesn’t last very long. It gives a spectacular effect especially on a LED dance floor where the lights make the cloud glow. Photographs taken while the bride and groom are dancing on the clouds look amazing!
A less expensive option than dry ice is a low smoke machine but this isn’t usable if your venue has smoke detectors. It pumps out smoke that sits low on the floor like dry ice but not in such big volumes as a dry ice machine.
Once the smoke reaches room temperature it rises and will set off smoke alarms.
Another special effect I routinely use is UV lighting. This light can make any white item of room decor glow and it looks amazing. I have several UV COB Cannons that will fill any venue with UV lighting. The effect is spectacular and will make any bride with a white wedding dress quite literally glow.
Anothet item on the special effects menus is a snow machine. If you’re loooking for a winter wonderland type wedding combining the snow machine particularly with a dry ice machine looks amazing. The snow is non slip, doesn’t stain or leave a residue and is completely non toxic.
I also added a bubble machine to my hire fleet and I can now do non slip UV bubbles that glow. It’s anothet effect that adds a bit of glitz and glam to your wedding day. When you add UV lighting with it the bubbles really glow.
A smoke or haze machine can really transform the lighting from the disco. This is especially true if you’ve ordered laser lighting. However the vast majority of venues now have smoke detectors and very few of these venues use one that aren’t set off by mobile disco smoke machines. The difference between with and without smoke is incredible.
Another item that I suppose could be considered room decor would be my photo booth. I’ve found that my photo booth is incredibly popular as it produces huge 6×9 inch prints! At a recent event at The Principal George Hotel in Edinburgh the photo booth that was there was producing passport sized photos which were tiny!
At the end of the night I walk round the room when I’ve been doing a photo booth hire and I rarely find one photo left behind! Everyone takes them home as they are so big and the quality is so good.
My photo booth has some unique qualities too as it doesn’t just print photos. It can post your photos to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and by email, airdrop and more. This means you can post some photos of you and your guests live from your wedding to anyone who couldn’t be with you on your special day.
I also provide a really nice 100 capacity photo album for you to put your photos in. I ask all the guests to print an extra copy so you have one in your album. At the end of the night you have a photographic guest book of all your friends and family at your wedding.
The Photobooth is supervises for the duration of your hire and a large prop box provided with a variety of hats, glasses, wigs etc for you to use. You can ask for a particular theme too!
You can also get an electronic copy of every photo taken at your wedding or party on a flash pen. We charge an extra £20 for this to cover the cost of the flash pen.
My inflatable photo booth is really classy, everyone loves it. It’s unusual and not the usual square shape. My customers also love the print speed of my printer which is really quite quick.
The photo pod that’s inside has led lights in it as does the inflatable booth and the pod has a large led light to illuminate you for your photos.
Every photograph is personalised with the name and date of the bride and groom or whoever’s party it is. This provides a permanent reminder for all our guests when your wedding was.
We also provide a photo frame for £1 that your guests can buy and a nice see through protective bag that ensures everyone gets their photos home clean and safe. The frames come in a Gold, Silver or black border.
Another new item of room decor I’m going to buy is a brand new product called a selfie wizard. It’s really a very simple but extremely clever bit of kit that allows all your guests to display photos taken on their phone on a giant TV screen that’s on a stand.
This allows all the people who were at the early part of your wedding to display the photos they took earlier to all the other guests.
The Selfie Wizard stores all these photos and you receive a copy on a flash pen at the end of your wedding. A great way to have lots of photos of your day on the day of your wedding.
Two final optional extras that are popular at Weddings. I can also provides candy carts that look beautiful and come with 15 different varieties of sweets and I fill the jars to the top! You can specify certain sweets that you would like from my sweety menu and I’ll get them for you. The candy cart has lights and tongs and miniature plastic serving scoops and bags to put your sweets in.
My video disco is the final optional extra. You can have this with one screen on front of the disco or with a single or two giant 10ft screens at either side.
The video screens can show different things so you could have your wedding ceremony on one screen, messages on another or the selfie wizard showing its content plus music videos or a family movie from both the bride and groom’s side. The possibilities are endless.
There are lots of other suppliers who can add other items of room decor including chair covers and sashes, trees and bushes plus of course flowers and trellis’s.
Coming soon will be a suppliers list for room decor for the things I don’t do. These room decor suppliers will all be ones we’ve met and seen their work so we’re recommending only quality suppliers.
