My top 10 wedding Dj questions from brides.
As a wedding Dj with 43 years experience I thought I’d share with you the 10 most regularly asked questions that I get from brides and grooms.
1. How much does it cost to hire you to be our wedding Dj?
Typically I charge £450 for an evening reception and this includes my amazing disco lighting plus my crystal clear sound system. I do have lots of other items you can add to your booking like led dance floor hire, giant letter hire and photo booth hire. I have some great package deals where you can grab a real bargain! Here’s one of them in the photo below:

2. What kind of music do you play?
Well the answer to that is almost anything. As a professional wedding Dj I try to make sure I have music for everyone. I have an enormous music collection that starts around the 1920’s and ends with the current charts. I can even play and call the ceilidh dances and I’ve got ballroom dances and some classical music too. As a professional wedding Dj I have to be able to cater for everyone.
3. Do you play requests and accept a playlist?
I’m a firm believer in playing requests. In my mind it’s what a wedding Dj is there for. Playing what your customers want to hear is paramount! I also accept playlists in advance too but would recommend that playlists are used as a guide and not a bible. At a gig I did recently the groom had total faith in me and let me do what I thought was right, he said “you just do what you think is best”. I had an amazing night with a great crowd and a very happy bride and groom.
4. Do you have public liability insurance and pat tested equipment?
The answer is yes I do. As a full time professional wedding Dj all my equipment is tested annually and anything I see that needs repaired gets repaired or replaced. I have £10 million of public liability cover too.
5. Are you a reliable wedding Dj?
Yes I am. Not only do I arrive on time I usually arrive very early, sometimes several hours early. I don’t leave anything to chance and I often set off several hours before I need to just in case of traffic jams etc.
6. Do you have lights?
I often think of this as a strange question as to me a mobile disco has always been a sound system, Dj and lighting. It’s amazing how often you get asked this though. If you hire a good wedding Dj you’ll get a great sound and light show too.
7. What happens if you aew sick, will our booking still go ahead?
The answer is yes. In the event that I’m ill I will always supply a suitable replacement wedding Dj or do it myself even when I’m sick. There have been several occasions where I’ve still worked despite being either injured or when I’ve been sick. The show must go on!
8. What does your wedding Dj and disco package include?
My standard silver disco package includes 6-8 high quality lights plus a 2 speaker sound system and a Dj. My disco looks really awesome. My sound is crystal clear and I play great music. Here is a photo of it:

9. How long does it take you to set up your wedding disco?
Usually if access is good it takes me around 45 minutes to an hour for my Silver disco and slightly longer for my Gold disco. The one thing about being a wedding Dj is you have to be quick to set up as room turnaround is usually only around an hour.
10. If we hire you to be our wedding Dj will we have a great night?
Well that’s always a hard one to answer but I’d say generally yes. The one thing no Dj can do is make people dance and enjoy themselves if they don’t want to. I always put 100% into every event I do and as a professional wedding Dj I want every night to be a huge success. The best nights I’ve had have always been where the bride and groom are very chilled out and relaxed and let me do what I think is necessary to make the night a success. You have to trust your wedding DJs abilities and let them do their job.
