Mobile disco hire, wedding Dj’s, party Dj’s and venues in Dundee.
Mobile discos in Dundee are easily found on line through google and other search engines.
How do you know which mobile disco to hire? Well that’s a very difficult question to answer as it’s a bit of a minefield. I would suggest the following tips are a pretty good way of separating the good Djs in Dundee from the not so good ones.
Make sure that your intended mobile Dj has a website and not just a free Facebook page. I would also check that the Dj has great reviews that are independent and verified.
Reviews from family members and friends should be treated accordingly. Ask if they have a you tube channel so you can see them working at weddings, parties, children’s parties or whatever you are intending hiring them for.
Another great tip when selecting your Dj is to check that they have full public liability insurance and ask for a copy of it! You could also ask for their PAT test certificates which proves their equipment is electrically safe. Many venues now insist that your Dj has this and if they don’t, they won’t be allowed in the venue!
Council halls in Dundee and many of the social clubs like The Downfield Club, The Michelin Club ask for proof of public liability and pat testing in advance to avoid turning a Dj away at the last minute. I think this is the best way to do it. All our documents can be found on this website along with our trade memberships etc.
Trade memberships like NADJ (national association of Djs) AmpDj (association of mobile professional Djs) MDJN (mobile Dj network) are also a good sign as they insist that their members have PLI and PAT and it’s verified!
Dundee has many different venues from the big hotels like Malmaison, The Queens Hotel, The Apex City Quay, The Invercarse Hotel, The Hilton who all have lovely function rooms. If your on a lower budget you could opt for a council hall, church hall or masonic lodge where the hall hire is cheaper and so are the drinks prices. The Tayview Hotel is under new ownership and has a large function room and car parking and is not expensive to hire.
If you’re having a wedding in Dundee there are some great venues! One of my particular favourites is Forbes Of Kingennie and I also really like The Woodlands Hotel. Both of these are exceptional venues.
What Djs don’t like about venues: Lots of stairs, a long walk from the car or van to the stage or setup area. If we were only carrying one or two pieces of equipment into the venue it wouldn’t be so bad. I personally make about 20 trips back and forth to the venue set up area. So assuming its only 100yds from the van to the stage I would be walking 4000 yards which is just over 2 miles. At the end of the night I have to do thew same again. Who said being a Dj was easy!
There are some venues that are on my blacklist due to access problems. These include Chambers East which has terrible access and I don’t go there. It’s something to bear in mind as the older more experienced Djs will avoid these venues which will leave you with the younger lesser experienced Djs!
I’ve been very fortunate to visit lots of amazing venues throughout Scotland including castles and stately homes. One castle I must mention is Glamis Castle which is a superb wedding venue and I love going there! It’s a few miles north of Dundee on the road to Aberdeen and is well worth going to see! Apart from its fantastic structure and beautiful gardens Glamis Castle has amazingly friendly efficient staff and a wonderful owner who is so down to earth and friendly. This all adds to the atmosphere and you can take amazing wedding photographs there!

I have done two or three amazing weddings there in the last year and my favourite was the last one which I did.
It was an all day wedding where I provided music and microphones for the speeches and the meal and the young couple who were getting married were so nice.
One of the nicest things about being a Dj at weddings is the lovely people you get to meet.
As a wedding Dj I do lots of wedding discos throughout Scotland and I’m going to write about some of my favourite ones on my site. We are also going to be introducing a wedding venue list with contact information, photos and a review from a Djs point of view.
Scotland is becoming a destination of choice for lots of foreigners wanting to get married in a castle and recently our beautiful country was voted the most beautiful country in the world! So for me it’s no big surprise that people flock here to get married! In the last 12 months I’ve provided a wedding disco to couples from America, Holland, Denmark, France, Australia, Germany, Poland and more.
I hope my little guide has been of help to you and has given you a few insider tips from a Dj’s point of view. Please before hiring any Dj do your homework and check them out thoroughly!
My website, Facebook and You Tube channel are all interlinked and I’ve started adding videos below my customer reviews on my website from the customer’s actual event! I think it’s nice to be able to prove your reviews are genuine.
