Wedding discos and mobile discos (part 2)
Are you getting married or having a party and need a top quality wedding Dj with a beautiful modern mobile disco?
Platinum Discos has been doing lots of weddings and parties in the central belt for many years now. We have been extremely popular as we provide top quality mobile discos and offer good value for money and a professional service. Reliability is 100% too and our customers love that we arrive in plenty of time. Here’s an example of our mobile disco.

Ashley our most experienced Dj will take up the story from here – One venue I really like and I’ve been to recently in Wishaw is the Jim Foley centre where I did a children’s party.
I’m extremely good at doing children’s parties and play lots of games and competitions and play all the music that children are into these days.
I do lots of outdoor events at Chatelherault country park which has a large wedding venue in it. The events I have done at Chatelherault country park have been triathlons, biathlons and other sporting events.
I provide a sound system for making the announcements and getting all the competitors marshalled for the start. I also make any safety announcements as required. I’ve been doing these events now for three years and as it’s outside it can be a little cold. Now I take a hat and gloves and an extra warm jacket.
I recently supplied a Dj in The Town House in Hamilton for a wedding too. It’s a great venue and Dj Dougie had a great night there. The couple who were getting married sent us a lovely review which is always very much appreciated. All our Djs are first class and get great customer reviews.
I did an excellent prom in East Kilbride at The Hilton Hotel for a local school. It was a very good prom night with a photo booth, 4ft light up letters saying prom and a white led dance floor and everyone looked great in their prom dresses and suits.
I took my largest sound system to the prom as I really wanted to impress and the function manageress said she had never seen a disco that was so impressive before. I was very happy to hear that. I’ve also worked in the other local Hilton Hotel in Bellshill At a wedding and at a few private parties too. Both venues have very easy access and thats a bonus when your carrying lots of equipment.
A highlight for me was an excellent 21st birthday party for Hayley and Claire at Cambusnethan Miners Club too. Here is the video interview.
Motherwell Football Club has a nice function room at Fir Park. I did a 40th birthday party there a few years ago in The Centenary Suite. Its’s on the ground floor which makes life very easy. When you carry heavy equipment and lots of it, easy access is always a huge bonus. Lots of car parking too is also major benefit.
Last summer I did a two day event at The John Wright Sports Centre for several local schools including Carnwath, Carluke, Lanark and more. This event was organised by the council and it was a Triathlon for the children.
They started off in the local leisure centre swimming pool then ran up the hill to the sports ground where they did a couple of laps of the circuit on their bicycles and then ran round the track to finish.
After that there were lots of activities for them to do in the middle of the track including judo, an obstacle course, a dance school, and a football competition.
My job was to make announcements for the competition and to motivate them as they went round the circuit. I played music but I also started making lots of other announcements. The teachers also asked me to make announcements to get their children ready to go home.
I also had all the children dancing on an area we called the dance floor, right in front of the disco, which was very popular. They were dancing to all the popular songs like the cha cha slide and gangnam style and we eventually had a line going for around 50 metres! It was a real fun day.
One of the more unusual venues was at New Lanark where I did an amazing wedding for a lovely couple. The function room was upstairs and had access via a lift. It wasn’t so easy but possible. New Lanark is a historical town and national heritage site. It is a very interesting venue and I wish I had time to go and see the other parts that I missed.
Other areas I’ve done lots of weddings and parties in is Livingston, Bathgate, Blackridge, Broxburn, Uphall and Pumpherston.
Broxburn Bowling Club is upstairs but apart from that has fairly easy access. It has a nice stage and I did Kirsty’s 21st birthday party there fairly recently. It was a really good night with everyone up dancing and having a great time. Here’s a video clip from it:
Pumpherston Golf Club is a great venue overlooking the golf course. Although the function room is upstairs it’s a venue I enjoy going to. My last party there was a sad affair as the lady I was doing the disco for was terminally ill. All her family were there and we had a great night which I really wanted it to be under the circumstances.

In Uphall I have been to The MacDonald Houston House Hotel. I did an amazing wedding there in their beautiful function room.
Access is reasonably easy as it’s on the ground floor. Lots of parking at this venue too and ground floor access which is great for me.
In Livingston there are lots of venues, I’ve done a few gigs in Livingston Bowling Club, Livingston station is a regular venue for children’s parties.
I used to Dj in Davincis in Livingston many moons ago before my stay at Room At The Top in Bathgate where I was the Dj from 1993-1995. Shortly after I left it burnt to the ground. Honestly it wasn’t me!
