When I first started doing discos in Aberfeldy mood lighting didn’t even exist and it wasn’t an optional extra that I offered for a wedding. Nowadays almost every bride and groom ask for it.

In 2018 the vast majority of wedding discos that I provide include mood lighting. Why? I hear you say. To say that it can totally transform a venue is an understatement. Especially if you have a room with plain white walls and a white ceiling. To me it’s like a blank canvas is to a painter. In this video taken at The Huntingtower Hotel In Perth you will see exactly what I mean.
The Mood lights I use are extremely expensive at £5,000 for a set of 12 but the reason I bought them is because of the control I have over them using an app on my phone where I can dim them, make them change colour or get them to run sequences or chases. They can be set to almost any colour which means I can set them to the brides colours.
One other huge advantage that my wireless mood lights have is that it takes only two to three minutes to set them up. No cables to tape down, no looking for sockets all over the room and it means I can place them uniformly around the room so it looks perfect.
There is one other thing that my wireless mood lights do very well and that’s to act as emergency lighting. As they are battery powered and nice and bright if you had a power cut at your venue, you wouldn’t be plunged into darkness.
My favourite places to use my wireless mood lighting are in council halls and marquees. The reason is a very simple one. In many council halls the lighting has a choice of all on or all off. To create a nice atmosphere at your wedding or party you need to have your venue lit to the correct level. With all the lights on it’s far too bright, with them off it’s too dark.
With my wireless mood lights you can switch off all your venue’s lights and just have the mood lighting on. I can adjust the brightness to just the right level by sliding the dimmer slider on the app. It’s pure genius.
Another venue this time right up in the North of Scotland just along the road from Inverness is The Bunchrew House Hotel. Both my recent weddings there have used mood lighting as it looks amazing.
St Augustine’s Hall In Coatbridge was a venue I recently performed in as a wedding Dj for Sinead and Michael’s wedding. What a great night we had and an lovely couple.
An exceptional venue where everything was perfect. It’s not often that I visit a venue and can’t find a fault.
The food was delicious, the hall lighting was perfect, the staff were friendly and efficient. Car parking right outside. Just amazing!
Another venue that was transformed by my mood lighting was Blairquhan Castle In Ayrshire. The bride was very careful about how she wanted the room to look and she was over the moon with what I created and sent me a lovely review.
Here’s another venue that I put mood lighting in recently. The Atholl Palace in Pitlochry has two superb function suites, one in the Hotel itself called The Bow Lounge and The Atholl Suite which is much bigger and my personal favourite.
