Platinum Discos has done lots of mobile discos in Perth, over the last 30 years or so, and here are some of my favourite venues.
The Salutation Hotel has two function rooms a very large modern one downstairs with a good sized stage and another function room upstairs which is slightly smaller but has lovely views out of a huge window at the end of the room.
I’ve been going there for over 30 years now and the function room has fairly good access from a Djs point of view as it’s on the ground floor! The Salutation Hotel is an upmarket venue which will be more expensive.
The Lovat Hotel on Glasgow Road has recently had a turbulent time but it’s new owners are giving it a huge facelift. It has a large function room which is going to double as a dining room and will do functions too. It has a smaller function room too which will comfortably take around 100 people. It’s due to reopen around March the 1st 2018 and after talking to the new owners I’m sure t will be a huge success. It has bedrooms, car parking, bar areas and gardens for photos.
The Huntingtower Hotel is just outside Perth on the way to Crieff and has beautiful gardens which are perfect for weddings which they do lots of. The function suite is large and modern and the Staff are very friendly and helpful. They have a massive car park and lots of rooms for guests who are going to a function to stay in. The food here is exceptionally nice too!
Here is a video I recorded that shows the function room after a recent wedding fair and the difference mood lighting can make to a venue:
Murrayshall Hotel is on the outskirts of Perth behind Scone and has a large modern function room. With huge grounds and a golf course this is an ideal wedding venue. Car parking and a large amount of rooms means that your guests can stay over and won’t need to drive home.
The George Hotel on Tay Street has a lovely function room of medium size. It has great views out over the river tay and makes it perfect for weddings. The North Inch is only a few hundred yards walk from the hotel for those all important photographs. Great food and friendly staff and lots of accommodation for your guest to stay overnight.
The Station Hotel is right in the middle of Perth and has a lovely big function room and benefits from lovely gardens for wedding photographs. It has lots of accommodation and car parking.
The Mercure Hotel formerly The City Mills Hotel is right in the middle of Perth and very close to the bus station, cinema etc. The function room is upstairs and is a good size. It benefits from lots of old wooden beams in the function room which give it a more traditional feel. There is plenty of car parking nearby at the Mill Street car park. Staff here are friendly and efficient. There are also plenty of rooms for your guests to stay over.
The Civil Service Club is close to the South Inch and has a good sized function room with easy access as it’s on the ground floor. It has car parking and gardens and would be a good venue to hire if your on a budget. They offer catering and have nice friendly efficient staff.
The St Johnstone Club on Barossa Street has a medium sized function suite and limited parking. The room has a stage for your entertainment and prices here are every reasonable! Friendly staff and easy ground floor access make this a good venue.
The Ex Serviceman’s club has an upstairs function room and is based just off the Dundee road in a central location. This a great value for money venue for parties. Good friendly staff and low prices means you and your guests can easily afford to party here.
St Johnstone football club on Crieff Road also has a function room, but I’ve never played there.
There are a variety of council and church halls in Perth that you can hire too, I will make a list of those at a later date. These are ideal for holding children’s parties and birthdays.
