Last night I provided my mobile disco and a photo booth at The Macdonald Aviemore resort in the Peregrine Suite in the conference centre. The event was a prom for Kingussie High School students who were leaving school to persue careers or further education.
The venue was upstairs but luckily there was a lift. A nice big function room with adjoining bar awaited me.
I set up my mobile disco with the help of Rocky and also set up the photo booth at the opposite end of the function room. I also included 12 wireless mood lights for added effect.
The Peregrine Suite is very spacious and has a great big dance floor which would suit doing larger functions and ceilidh dances.
With it’s adjojning bar it’s easy to hear the bar staff and vice versa above the music.
At around 7pm the students from Kingussie High School started to arrive and the scene was set for their prom.
The photo booth attracted a lot of attention and the students used many of its features including posting to Facebook, iMessage, Instagram and Twitter as well as printing out loads of our huge 6×9 photos.
I also recorded a short video last night showing you what the photo pod can do:
The thing that really caught the attention of everyone was the size of the prints my photo booth produces. They are 2.5 times the size of a 6×4 print and that really makes a huge difference.
Once again lots of people took business cards with a view to booking for their party.
I really pushed the boat out with the disco and used my new Yamaha DXS18 subs which are 1,050 watts each and when added to my DSR 115 tops at 1300 watts each makes a total of 4.7Kw. That’s rather an exceptional mobile disco.
My disco rig had six Chauvet Swarm Wash Fx lights, two ADJ UV Cob cannons and two Chauvet Wash Fx 2 lights.
I’ve always liked my mobile disco to look impressive, classy and tidy and to sound awesome and for the lighting to be stunning.
The consensus last night was exactly that and that makes me very happy.
