As you can see from the poster above, up to 7 giant letters or numbers are included in this package. We chose 7 characters so you could have “LOVE” and your initials like “A&D” for example. You can also have “MR & MRS” in white or rustic styles too.

Our giant letters that we hire come in white or rustic style and we give you two choices of light bulbs: Cabochon (fairground type) or small Led (Christmas tree lights) Some of our giant letters and giant numbers are mains powered and some are battery powered.

Here is an example of our giant letters that we use a lot at barn  weddings. These are rustic style with cabochon lamps. They are mains powered and the lamps are 24v for safety.

Something new for 2022 that is proving to be extremely popular are our 1ft tall Mr & Mrs letters deigned to be placed on top of your surname. This photo was taken at Kinkell Byre near St Andrews for a barn wedding.

The battery powered giant letters and giant numbers that we hire are white and use cool white LED’s. The advantages of battery power are numerous! Quick to set up, not overpoweringly bright, can be moved easily, electrically far safer, and they look amazing!

I have provided my giant letter hire at lots of venues in Edinburgh like the Sheraton Hotel, the George Hotel and the Kimpton Hotel. Whatever you are celebrating whether is a birthday or a christening, a naming ceremony, an engagement or a wedding we have giant letters we can hire you and giant numbers we can hire you or a combination of both. The most popular giant numbers we hire are 18, 21 and 40 and we have several sets of these so we are never out of stock of them. So we won’t ever phone you up and cancel your light up number booking as we are over booked. When we become over booked we either order more or make them ourselves depending on how much time we have before your event.

The most popular giant letters we hire are primarily for weddings. So “LOVE” and “MR & MRS” are the two favourites by far. But we frequently get asked for your initials with the “&” symbol in between.

I’ve also hired out giant letters that say “MARRY ME ? ” on two occasions. The last occasion was at The Grey Mare’s Tail in the borders and was outside! Luckily the weather was good and I particularly enjoyed doing this one. Here is a photo of it:

I remember standing in the middle of a stream to get a good photo of the happy couple with the waterfall behind them. A really satisfying job to do and it reminded me why I love to do my job.

Giant letter/number hire pricing

At Platinum Discos our giant letter hire and giant number hire prices are very competitive!

The first letter or number is £50, all subsequent characters are £10 each.  So “LOVE” for example is £50 plus 3 extra letters at £10 making £80 total including delivery.

If your delivery address is within West Lothian delivery is free as we are based in Bathgate. If you are within the central belt and within an hours drive of Bathgate the delivery fee is £20. If you are further away than this we can still deliver or you can collect from us. A price will be given once we know how far and how long it will take to get to your venue.

Our giant letters are always provided in very good condition. We regularly re paint them when they get scratched or chipped and all the LED’s will be working. We test them before every hire!

They will arrive clean and looking pristine! We regularly get told that our giant letters and giant numbers are the best our customers have ever seen!

Battery life on our battery-powered giant letters and giant numbers that we hire is extremely good. At least 24 hours is typical. If you want to hire our light up letters or numbers for a long period of time we will give you spare batteries and chargers so you have enough batteries to do your entire hire with ease.

We are often asked how long you get our giant letters or giant numbers for. Usually we deliver either the day before your light up letter hire or number hire or in the morning or at a time that you’ve specified. We usually collect the day after your hire, but we don’t mind leaving them for a few extra days either free or at a nominal extra cost. This is particularly good for birthday parties at home, where your actual birthday is one day and your party maybe a day or two before or after at the weekend. We always try to be as flexible and helpful as possible and want you to get full use of the giant letters or giant numbers that you’ve hired.
