Children’s parties Edinburgh, Perth, Dundee, Stirling, Scotland
As a mobile Dj I’ve been doing children’s parties for many years now. I started off doing children’s parties in Aberfeldy in Perthshire but I can’t actually remember where or for who my first children’s party was for. I wish I had kept all my old diaries for the last 42 years as it would have been a good reference.
What makes a good children’s party Dj?
Well I would say interaction, playing games and competitions and playing the right music certainly count. I’m also not a pushy Dj I let the children come to me when they feel comfortable and this I think is the best way to do it. I like to gently encourage the children to take part in games and to sing and dance and I’ve had some amazing responses from them.
I often look for the quietest child in the room and encourage them to take part in the party.
I remember one little girl who was extremely shy who I got to sing by saying I’d sing with her and eventually she started singing on her own. Her grandmother who brought her to the party had tears running down her face as she’d never heard her granddaughter sing. It was one of those lump in your throat moments that make my job so rewarding.
Parents have often commented on how good I am with the children and how patient I am with them. Another comment I get often is “ how do you get my children to do that?” They’d never do that for me.
I don’t have children of my own and entertaining children is like my time to be a dad for a couple of hours. I think it’s why I enjoy it so much and I think of when I was a child and the things I was and wasn’t allowed to do and try to think like a child and make my disco as much fun as possible.
Quite often with some children they are all very quiet and too well behaved and forget to have fun but I have a cure for this. I say to them “your awfully quiet, let’s see who can scream the loudest” and it breaks the ice and lets them know that the usual rules don’t apply during their party.
Once you’ve got past that point I get them to play a variety of games and competitions and play all the music they like until the buffet and the birthday cake.
I do children’s parties for all ages of children. I was in Forfar yesterday doing Brodie’s 4th birthday party. I had less than 20 children to entertain which makes it that little bit harder but I had an immensely successful party and received this lovely review from Brodie’s mum Lauren:
Fantastic Dj! Out of this world!!
Yesterday was my sons birthday party and we hired platinum discos! I couldn’t recommend enough, amazing interaction with the kids and got really involved! Thank you so much!
I got all the children to play games and even got grandad doing a dance off with one of the older children doing the swish swish dance.
It was a very entertaining afternoon and good to get all the parents involved with the children too.
I can do children’s parties anywhere in Scotland and Northern England and my most northerly children’s party was an hour past Inverness and my most southerly children’s party was in Yorkshire.
I’ve done the majority of my children’s parties in Fife and Edinburgh as they are the closest to me but I’ve recently done lots of children’s parties in Dumfries, Perth and Dundee too.
Please visit my facebook page and read my most most recent reviews from customers who have hired me for their children’s parties.
